This guide covers all available sizes of the 2-way Auto, 3-way Manual, & 6-way Manual Valves.
Upon receipt, check the valve to see how it rotates. This is done in the factory prior to shipment, however, occasionally shipping can affect valve operation.
Valves can be mounted horizontally or vertically depending on your system layout. When mounting horizontally, the 3-way and 6-way valves should be installed with the operational handle on the left side of the valve. Note: please ensure the valve is mounted level with no twisting. Once the valve is secured in place, rotate the valve elbow to ensure it’s easy and free from binding. If the valve binds, shims will be required.
Once the valve is securely in place, tubes can be mounted to the valve. Install the first tube on the inlet side of the valve. The tube should be secured approximately 10’ away from the valve, as straight as possible into the valve. Attach the tube to the valve via the Morris coupler and then rotate the elbow to ensure it moves freely.
Mount the next tubes, one at a time, to the discharge side of the valve. Using a tube stand bracket about 10’ from the valve, mount these tubes as straight as possible. Tighten the Morris coupler, rotate the valve elbow and engage the port you have just completed after each connection is made. Make sure each tube connects with ease and if it does not, adjust the tube so there is no sideways binding.
By using this installation procedure, you will be able to determine if there is a binding issue and where to pinpoint it. Please note: in Northern climates, frost can have an adverse effect on the valve binding. For this reason, keep the tube brackets, at minimum, 10’ away from the valve to give it some flexibility.
